Proxy error codes
What each one means, and which ones are not your fault.
The ones you will actually see, and which are not your fault.
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 407 | Authentication refused | Re-copy the password whole. This is the number one cause. |
| 403 | The target refused, not us | Try a more disguised pool. |
| 429 | Too many requests | Slow down, or lower your concurrency. |
| 502 / 504 | The gateway got no answer from the target | Retry. If it persists, the target is the problem. |
Not your fault
403 and 502 come from the destination site, not from the proxy. Changing your password or port will not help — what needs to change is the pool, or how fast you are hitting it.
Your quota when things fail
A request refused for hitting the connection limit does not spend quota. A request that reaches the target does spend quota, even when the target answers with an error.
