HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5, UDP
Which to use, and when the difference actually matters.
The gateway speaks HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5, UDP.
| Protocol | Port | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| HTTP / HTTPS | 823 | The default. Nearly every tool and library speaks it. |
| SOCKS5 | 824 | When your tool asks for SOCKS5, or you need traffic that is not web traffic. |
| UDP | 824 | Over SOCKS5. Used by games and anything not connection-based. |
HTTP or SOCKS5?
If your tool does not mention SOCKS5, use HTTP. The difference only shows up when what you are sending is not an ordinary web request.
UDP
UDP works on Residential, Residential Elite, Datacenter and Mobile 4G: this is confirmed, and we tried a Growtopia login through our proxy ourselves. That matters if you are running a game. On Residential Plus UDP is not tested yet.
